Trust Your Self

It is from the nature of every “average” human to seek validation of their thought processes and judgments from the people around them, especially the ones that really matter to them. With the mindset already established, as regards their opinions of what is worthy or otherwise, we try our possible best to combine and consider the “sentimental” judgments of this group of people before we even think about “how” they settle with us; in good or bad ways. I have seen people turn down proposals of men they’d otherwise have fought tooth and nail just to have, simply because their friends “think” they’re not compatible (on whatever grounds), and then they’ll have to battle with the hurt and regret for long after. I have equally seen people give up their dreams because some people “think” it doesn’t suit them, or they wouldn’t excel in its pursuance… by the same token, I have personally considered marrying a few people that I naturally didn’t “like” simply because my friends “think” they’re co...

Take a Step Back: View the Full Picture

Most times, when you stand too close, you tend to see a magnified version of an otherwise little portion of a whole, and thus, making your judgement and reaction based on that which is biased and inclined towards the singular portion you were exposed to. It is very easy for everybody to see things from their own perspectives, finding it hard to see "why" the other person couldn't "see what they were seeing" or "feel what they were feeling", when in reality, the other person would (mostly likely) be thinking along the same lines too, only that it's now tossed: they can't see why you also can't see from their perspective. In truth, whenever a disagreement or conflict or interests or opinions occur, all involved party believe that their own opinion or stand is the best and most ideal for the situation, and for that reason, they would refuse to "buy" the other party's idea. Now, when you have issues with your friends and significa...

Away or A Way?

It is difficult to name a blank bland shape, since we are aware of neither its source nor its purpose, and we know it not beyond its surrounding walls; water is shapeless after all, yet, we all seek it in its natural state for many different purposes. It is quite impossible to look through the events of your life and put a label to all of what you are going through, and especially what you are feeling in reaction to them. We all just push through the rigid walls, seeking an escape, paying no mind to how it came about or what put it forth in the state in which it comes. However you stand, the weight of the world would usually find its way to get a place on your shoulders and almost break your bones under its weight. That is to prove it true that we usually don’t have a choice as to what comes and what goes in our lives; we get dealt the cards without choice, and get forced to play out of volition, needing acute sharpness and swift calculations. Regardless of what you want and how ...

Live With Your scars: They are a Part of You

Image
It is no news that everybody has some sort of hardship they live with or through the course of their life journey, each step leaving a unique and specific impact on our persons; a flower in our garden or a ditch in our oceans. The intensity of these impacts also vary greatly from person to person, such that each person may not compare their experiences and reactions to those of another in a similar situation. Scars are undeniable proofs of where you have been, how far you have come, and how hard you have fought; they are supposed to be beautiful and adored as they are badges that reveal our strength and resilience, right? Sadly though, as most of us must have noticed, scars are hardly ever beautiful or endearing. In fact, in many cases, they could be really ugly and terrifying. Yes, they didn’t come out through an easy or beautifying process, did they? They came as a result of really harsh conditions, really tough battles that you have fought and survived… of course, there is a beauty ...
